Caribbean Poker Rules and Tips

[ English ]

Internet poker has become globally famous as of late, with televised competitions and celebrity poker game events. Its universal appeal, though, stretches back quite a bit farther than its TV ratings. Over the years numerous variations on the original poker game have been developed, including a handful of games that are not in fact poker anymore. Caribbean stud poker is 1 of these particular games. Despite the name, Caribbean stud poker is more closely resembling chemin de fer than traditional poker, in that the gamblers wager against the casino rather than each other. The succeeding hands, are the long-standing poker hands. There is no bluffing or different types of deception. In Caribbean stud poker, you are required to ante up just before the dealer saying "No more bets." At that instance, both you and the bank and of course all of the other gamblers are given 5 cards each. Once you have seen your hand and the casino’s 1st card, you need to in turn make a call wager or give up. The call wager’s value is akin to your original wager, indicating that the risks will have doubled. Bowing out means that your ante goes instantly to the casino. After the wager is the face off. If the dealer doesn’t have ace/king or better, your wager is returned, plus an amount on par with the initial wager. If the dealer does have ace/king or better, you win if your hand beats the dealer’s hand. The casino pays out cash equal to your wager and controlled expectations on your call bet. These expectations are:

  • Equal for a pair or high card
  • 2-1 for 2 pairs
  • 3-1 for three of a kind
  • four to one for a straight
  • 5-1 for a flush
  • seven to one for a full house
  • 20-1 for a four of a kind
  • 50-1 for a straight flush
  • one hundred to one for a royal flush
